Why do you Play?

Why do You Play?
Is it for the fun of the game?
Or just merely to keep yourself in shape?
It's a simple question isn't it?
Yet it is hard to come up with just one answer.

There are many reasons why you play.
The passion to play.
For the fans that are there for you at every game just to cheer YOU on.
That's why you play.

It's for your team or should I say family that you play with.
For the competivness within you.
There are so many reasons why you play, but the biggest of all?
Simply for the love of the game.

Districts!

This past weekend our high school teams were scheduled to play Hugo and Mclave. On Friday however the games were cancelled due to bad weather. Thankfully the games on Saturday still continued though, the Varsity girls were the only ones who won their game, as the jv girls and varsity boys both dropped this game.. This was a little step up for our girls as the Mclave girls had beat them last time,so it was sort of a way for them to prove what they are capable of. This upcoming weekend our teams face a big step in their fate as to if they will be state champions and get a picture on the gym wall or if they will not. The teams in their district are Kit Carson, Mclave, Cheraw, Granada, and Cheyene Wells. It will be a tough weekend but it will hopefully also be a rewarding one. On Tuesday our boys play Kit Carson to see if they will advance to Thursday. Then our girls will be playing on Thursday against the winner of the game against Mclave and Cheyenne Wells. Then Saturday will be the championship to see who the winner of our district will be. Lets go Eagles!

Hugo and Mclave

Last weekend our highschool basketball teams played Vilas and their biggest rival, the Kit Carson Wildcats. On Thursday thankfully both teams came out on top with big wins. Then on Friday the gym was full of crazy fans and nervous players. The teams both brought their best, but only one team can win, and sadly this time it wasn't ours. The girls and boys both put up a good fight but still didn't come out on top. Hopefully we will see these teams again later in the season, so that we will have a chance to show everyone what we are truly capable of. This weekend we play Hugo and Mclave which are games that promise to be a battle, so we hope to see as many supporters there as possible. Good Luck!

Champions do not become champions when they win an event, but in the hours, weeks, and months, and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely a demonstration of their championship character. -Michael Jordan

Kit Carson and Vilas

Last weekend our basketball teams  played two tough teams the Kim mustangs on Friday, and the Holly wildcats on Saturday. On Friday unfortunately the girls lost, but the boys pulled through and won a close game. Then on Saturday the girls got revenge on Holly, who beat them at the Holiday Basketball Tournament, but the boys struggled to poull through on this game and dropped on more. This weekend we play two more great games. On Thursday we play Vilas in their home gym and hopefully we can pull through and get this win. Then on Friday we play our biggest rival of all, the Kit Carson wildcats. We all have confidence that we can take this game and put it on the winning side. This game will be at home and it is sure to be packed full, so it will be a very intense and loud night, but hopefully it will be even more, such as a winning night.

Tough Times

Everything negative pressure, challenges are all an opportunity for me to rise.
-Kobe Bryant

I love this quote and I think that it is incredibly true. Many famous basketball players have been through times when nobody beleived in them or they had people rooting for the opposing player just because they were the upper dog. This just goes to show through highschool, college, and even maybe the NBA, if you want to take it that far, you will always have to go through a battle before you can get to the glory. But these battles are what seperate the weak from the strong, and the undedicated from the dedicated. I love to read stories or poems about basketball players who have had struggles down their path while trying to reach their goal, because it shows me and many other young basketball players that if you are going through a tough time now in your basketball career that it will soon be over and that you will then reach the fun part.

Holly and Kim

This weekend our basketball teams continue on their streak of tough games. On Friday they play Kim an undefeated team, in Kim's home gym. Then on Saturday we have another great home game when they play Holly. The girls team has already played this team and they were beat barely in a tough battle. So hopefully this Saturday they will come back for revenge and prove to everyone what they are truly made of. And as for Friday the teams both have to bring their toughest and it will be a battle until the end. Good Luck to both teams once again this weekend, hopefully you will bring home the wins like we know you can.

Wiley Game

Last Thursday as you all know our highschool teams played the Wiley Panthers at our home gym. Unfortunately both teams came out on the bottom. They were both great games to watch and taught each team a great deal of lessons. Hopefully these lessons will carry on throughout the rest of the year. Wiley was one of the toughest teams on our bracket so it was a very tough loss. However I think that these two teams will meet again later on in the seasons, hopefully at state. Even though the outcome was not what expected the teams both gave it their all and that is all that we ask.
