Wiley Game
Last Thursday as you all know our highschool teams played the Wiley Panthers at our home gym. Unfortunately both teams came out on the bottom. They were both great games to watch and taught each team a great deal of lessons. Hopefully these lessons will carry on throughout the rest of the year. Wiley was one of the toughest teams on our bracket so it was a very tough loss. However I think that these two teams will meet again later on in the seasons, hopefully at state. Even though the outcome was not what expected the teams both gave it their all and that is all that we ask.

Wiley
This Thursday our high school teams take on a pretty big rival, the Wiley, panthers. It is in our gym which makes it even more exciting. This is one of the tougher temas on our schedule, as they are undefeated and the winners of the Holiday Baskeball Tournament. But that is no reason as to why we should not beat them. I have full confidence in both the boys and the girls to bring home the win on this one. From this game on our schedules look pretty rough as far as the competitive level of the teams. I hope that both teams bring their best Thursday and show everyone what they are capable of. Good luck!

Last Shot
Standing there shaky and hot.
All that I am thinking is, "I must make this last shot."
The crowd all expecting my best.
I can feel my heart beating so fast it might burst through my chest.
As I look at my teamates I can see the hope in their eyes,
That's when I realize in my hands the outcome lies.
As the shot goes up I feel a tinge of doubt,
And all I know is I want out.
But then there is the familiar sound of the ball falling through the net.
And then I know that my goal has been met.
Standing there still shaky and hot.
All I am thinking is, " I made the last shot!"

Hi-Plains
This past weekend our basketball teams had a big battle in front of them, and everyone showed up and gave it their best. It was a great game to watch and an even better one to play in. The girls team pulled through the battle and got another win keeping them on that well needed winning street, while the boys struggled and dropped this game. The girls not only won, but also learned so much from that game that can carry on to the games coming up on our schedule. This week we play two good teams, Granada and Cheyenne Wells. Hopefully our teams wil keep up all of the good work and continue to put on good shows for our loyal and faithful audience. Good luck to all of the teams!

Cheraw and Stratton
This past weekend our boys and girls basketball teams played Cheraw on Friday and Stratton on Saturday. On Friday due to strong winds the girls junior varsity was canceled and the games were moved to seven. However our teams still went strong and the varsity girls came out with a win getting out of their slump, and the boys also won. Then on Saturday our boys struggled and barely lost to Stratton while the girls varsity and junior varsity both came out on top with a pretty devastating win. This Saturday we play one of the toughest teams on our schedule and they should present a challenge for us. We hope to have another successful weekend and impress our fans. Good luck to both the boys and girls.

Christmas Break
These past two weeks our boys and girls have both taken a break for Christmas, but the games haven't stopped. This Friday we play the Cheraw Wolverines at their gym, and we hope to bring home a win. They will be a tough competitor as they are undefeated, and have some talented new freshman players. This Saturday we play Stratton in our home gym, and we hope to impress our fans. They are combined with the Liberty school, and so we will trruly be playing Liberty and Stratton. We hope to get out of this rut we are in and get on a roll again with winning. We are excited for our schedule, as it is getting more challenging, which means that the wins will be even more rewarding. Good luck to both teams!

Springfield and Walsh
This Friday and Saturday our basketball teams played two tough team as well as a pretty big rival. Both the boys and the girls did really well and gave it their all.On Friday the girls came out with a win, while the boys had a tough loss in overtime. This team was a big step in our season and the win not only helped our reputation, but also our confidence. On Saturday we played Walsh in our home gym and we did great. The boys went into overtime and took advantage of it this time taking the win,and the girls also took home another win. The season is looking up so far for both teams and hopefully it will only continue.
We both have a big, long week ahead of us, but it is also one of the funnest parts of the season. The Holiday Basketball Tournament in Lamar is coming up this Tursday, Friday, and Saturday. We will see many of our toughest opponets, and best of all our rivals. Our girls are going in ranked number one, and will play the the number eight team Mclave. This is a fairly tough team and a big rival so hopefully we will come out with a win and keep on pushing through the next two days. Our boys are going in ranked fifth and will be playing the Granada, bobcats. Last year our girls came out winning firts place in a tight game against Wiley only winning by two points. We hope to represent our town well and keep our season going good. Good Luck!
